Your child is turning ONE! That’s HUGE. As a parent, you are cheering, hooraying, and dancing inside at the fact that you kept this little human being alive for an entire year! That’s a huge accomplishment and something to really celebrate! You are also thinking about how your baby is not really a baby anymore and how fast that first year flew by. This party has to be epic – the one and only 1st birthday of this little human’s entire life. His or her first time eating cake (usually). First time opening presents (usually). First time blowing out a candle. Sounds like something that should be exuberantly celebrated. 😉
It’s something that should be photographed, and photographed well. If you can afford a professional, that’s awesome – find someone you really click with or who you’ve worked with in the past. If you don’t think you can – perhaps you could spend a little less on Etsy tutus, decorations, and helium, and save that money to spend on professionally capturing every moment so you can re-live the day time and time again. These are some of the best moments of your life, and you don’t even know it yet. As a parent, you have way too much to worry about, without running around with your phone or camera trying to capture everything (and ending up with a bunch of blurry, poorly lit, grainy images – and being really sad that you don’t get a re-do). Hire a pro to come in, capture the details that you worked so hard on, every single bite (or lick) of cake, and most importantly photograph that little peanut with all of his/her loved ones that came to party – and a couple of great family shots of mom, dad, and baby, too. 🙂
This is Lana Grace. I’m lucky to have her as my niece. She’s beautiful, sweet, and full of spunky personality. She just turned one and we could not be happier to have her! (I left out a lot of the family shots and of Lana with all of her loved ones for the privacy of the guests)
We had 3 babies born in 2014 in our immediate family, so this is #1 of the 3 first birthday parties we will have. 🙂 Enjoy Miss Lana’s big day.
Homemade bread and a few southern touches.
I just love using baby’s breath as a centerpiece. Even on it’s own. So pretty.
Hand drawn birthday card. Sweetest thing ever.
That’s right – I’ve graduated from rice cereal and breastmilk to chocolate cake!!!
Love her serious little face.
Great-Grandma’s cream puffs. Deeeeeeeelicious!
By far, the most handsome man there!
Such a beautiful family! I can’t stand it.
The party was fun for everyone!!
